In addition to these question types, users can also take advantage of the form validation, such as requiring responses to certain fields. Jotform also offers a scoring system that can be set up through the Form Calculation widget.
Jotform's interface may take a bit of time for users to get familiar especially when with working with form fields as individual settings for them are a bit hidden and thus come with a slight learning curve.
Jotform boasts an auto save feature that allows users to keep track of their progress without manually having to save their work. It also has a variety of plugins, including PayPal, Google Drive, Dropbox, MailChimp, Box, OneBip, SalesForce and Zoho CRM.
Jotform allows for easy collaboration by sharing forms with a simple link and allowing real time form collaboration even showing who's working on what through visual cues. However, it comes with the downside that all collaborators have to make a Jotform account in order to access the form.
Users can analyze responses in detail through the information that Jotform gathers, including traffic, device type, platform, and location. Users can also connect to Google Analytics for further detailed analyzation of the data.
Jotform offers various support methods, including their FAQ page with common questions and feature usage, a Youtube channel with instructional videos, and a 24/7 support chat.
Despite having a 24/7 support chat, Jotform's average response wait time is approximately 6 hours, which is very long, especially for customers dealing with urgent matters.
Jotform offers five different tiers to their platform - Starter, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Enterprise.
The Starter tier is free, but it is limited to 5 forms, 100 responses, 100MB space, 1,000 monthly form views, 500 submission storage, and 10 monthly payment submissions.
The Bronze tier is $29/month, and it comes with 25 forms, 1,000 responses, 10GB space, 10,000 monthly form views, unlimited submission storage, and 100 monthly payment submissions.
The Silver tier is $39/month, and it comes with 100 forms, 10,000 responses, 100GB space, unlimited monthly form views, unlimited submission storage, and 1,000 monthly payment submissions.
The Gold tier is $99/month, and it comes with unlimited forms, 100,000 responses, 1TB space, unlimited monthly form views, unlimited submission storage, and unlimited monthly payment submissions.
The highest tier, Jotform Enterprise, grants unlimited access to tools to improve online forms and data collection. It is used by companies, such as Ford and Chanel.

In addition to these question types, users can use conditional logic even if on the free version. Users can also take advantage of the form validation feature even using regular expressions to designate what types of responses are acceptable. Google form also offers immediate scoring even for short-answer questions.
However, question types do not include payment ability, image/video-based questions and hierarchical menus.
Because Google Forms is integrated with Google Drive, all changes to surveys are automatically saved to the cloud allowing users to be able to rely on the product to remember their work.
Users can easily share edit access with other Google users to allow for easier collaboration. However, Google Forms lacks in small areas that could widely restrict users. Unlike other Google products like Google docs, users can't restrict certain users to view only. They also can't comment on surveys created within. Lastly, users can't track the history of changes to a Google Form. This forces users to have to be in very close contact with collaborators in order to not lose any information.
Google Forms is limited when it comes to analytics within the platform. In addition to automatically charting your data, users can't choose the type of graph the data is charted in. However, access to Google Sheets makes it easy for users to explore data in detail. Data can also be exported to other types, such as Excel, for external analyzation.
When it comes to security, data within Google Forms is very secure as the company encrypts data and takes further steps to protect their accounts, such as two-factor authentication. However, there is always a risk of hacking.
Support is extremely limited for free users as their only source is documentation. However, paying G Suite subscribers have access to a 24/7 help team through email or live chat. Subscribers can also call for help during normal business hours.
Google Forms is free for individual google users with no survey creation or response limit. Businesses can subscribe to G Suite that starts at $6 per user per month. G Suite subscription tier does NOT affect the types of Google Form features offered but adds storage capacity, a business email account, and the ability to record video meetings.
Why we created this solution.
The purpose of this user document is to create an all-in-one survey training and selection tool that allows professionals who use surveys, such as researchers, statisticians, and businessmen, to overcome challenges of selection with thousands of survey options. We propose this survey selection tool for efficient survey selection as well as to learn more about survey platforms before using them.
Surveys are an inexpensive yet powerful tool commonly used in all fields that help gain insight into people’s views and experiences. With thousands of survey platforms to select from, users face challenges in effectively selecting the survey tool that best suits their needs.
Surveys have only been around for less than 200 years with the earliest survey being conducted in 1834 in London [1]. Surveys were born out of the needs of modern state bureaucracies as leading countries constantly required data about people, which became expensive to collect manually with population growth [2]. However, over the past 200 years, people have become very familiar with surveys as the US Census Bureau requires every person to partake in their surveys.
Finding a survey platform that best suits a user is not a new concept. Many researchers have written papers about the importance of survey platforms, but they often limit themselves to a user base, such as undergraduate students [3] or hyper-focus on a platform, such as Google Forms [4]. Of the papers our team has researched [3,4] on survey platforms, none give a specific use-case for each type of different user groups. There is a clear gap in connecting users with the best platform for their needs.
The pandemic serves as a catalyst in growing the use of surveys. Fast gathering of information has now become directly linked with people’s health. Previously, research was conducted on surveys of the pandemic where survey quality was assessed through the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist [5]. The article highlights the widespread usage of surveys in the pandemic and supports the idea that the quality of responses is impacted by the data collection mode [6]. As the pandemic continues to be a part of our lives, people have become accustomed to checking websites for COVID-19 tracking in their schools, workplaces, and cities. In addition, these organizations commonly employ surveys as a way to gather information about their people. As each website displays data in different ways, people are becoming more familiar than ever with not only surveys but also the different ways in which their results are displayed.
Our team’s experience has shown that one of the biggest factors dissuading users from researching each survey platform on their own is time. Through the use of a questionnaire, we would efficiently connect users with an appropriate survey platform. The qualities of a good questionnaire include conciseness, question organization, and transition paragraphs that aid continuity [7]. To emphasize our research on survey platforms, our questionnaire will be based on a survey with an effective scoring system. Challenges also exist when creating web-based surveys including sampling, response rates, non respondent characteristics, maintenance of confidentiality, and ethical issues. Andrew Clark states “three broad reasons for anonymizing data, the first to ‘protect’ or hide the identity of research participants, the second to disguise the identification of research locations and the third to comply with legal requirements on privacy” [8, p. 34]. Software survey tool companies also aim to distinguish their products from others with different functionalities [9]. Users struggle to select the best survey platform that matches their need for data collection and file creation with the best pricing, data encrypting, accessibility, and usability needs. Many survey tools fail to meet usability guidelines in compliance and don’t fulfill the requirements of selecting a diverse group of users including disabilities such as color blindness [10]. Researchers concluded that future developers and designers of surveys need to focus on providing better user documentation and designing a questionnaire layout to accommodate a diverse group of users [10].
Due to a lack of time, in order for our training modules to be detailed and insightful to our users, we had to choose the most popular survey platforms to compare and contrast while still allowing for them to be distinct amongst each other. Thus, we chose 6 platforms based on their popularity and diverse usages. Due to a lack of funding, we didn’t have full access to the highest tiers of each of the six platforms we researched, such as an enterprise account. Thus, we combined information from each platform’s main page as it had detailed instructions and guidelines as to what the paid version of the platform would entail, as well as external sources like reviews of the platform. We also took advantage of free trials that the platforms offered to get a more detailed account of each platform. Given more funding, we could go further to explore each survey platform in even more detail as well as expand to other platforms. With the limited budget for our project, we used a free survey scoring platform (Interact.com) for our questionnaire because it offered a free scoring functionality. However, for future improvements, we wish to use a better or more complicated scoring system. Moreover, including more specific questions for the questionnaire by personalizing the experience for users would also be helpful.

Here is what we're doing next.
To further expand on our work, we will be adding more training modules for other survey platforms, such as SurveyLegend, SurveyGizmo, QuestionPro, and etc. We will also add guidelines to most utilize unique features of our existing platforms, such as the smart analysis feature on Qualtrics.
In addition, given more funding, in order to make our Survey Matcher more accurate, we will be moving to a different survey tool that allows for more complex scoring and matching functionalities, adding more specific questions by personalizing the experience for users.

The overall look of the platform is appealing, with each page not cluttered with options.
When creating a survey, to add a question the entire webpage fill up with options in block form. Then you can edit the one question. When adding a second question, the first question is put onto the list on the side, so you never see two questions at the same time. With this platform, you cannot have multiple questions on the same page, but it makes the overall look cleaner.
The theme and styling of the survey can be edited with simple options available, but more advanced users can edit the CCS of the survey for a custom look.
The surveys can be shared with others on your team or organization. You cannot edit a survey at the same time as someone else, but the data and analytics can be easily shared to many and viewed simultaneously live or in reports.
In-depth easy to read analytics are available at a click of a button. This is what SurveySparrow does best, and allows easy integration with other analytical tool such as Google Analytics.
They offer real-time reporting, cross-tabulation, advanced reports filters, and the ability to schedule report emails.
All of SurveySparrow is hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS) which has end to end encryption.
In addition to an FAQ and general information section on their website, they offer live chat with a representative with quick response times.
A very limited personal free version is available to try the platform.
All paid accounts range in price depending on responses and email shares needed per month.
Basic: $19 - $31 per month
Premium: $29 - $119 per month
Basic: $99 - $299 per month
Enterprise: $499 - $749 per month

Who built this solution.
We are a group of students in the Cornell University College of Engineering who are passionate about solving everyday problems.
This project started out as a debate on which survey platform was the best, and transformed into a question of which platforms where best for certain situations. We used our knowledge in information science and experience using a multitude of survey platforms to develop an innovative solution anyone can use.
Take our questionnaire to be matched with your top survey.
This is a link to our survey matcher to help you find a survey platform that best suits your needs.

The interface is basic but intuitive. The tools to add questions to the survey are side by side with the survey. To have a better final look, there is a preview option that shows what the survey would look like on a computer and a smart phone. Qualtrics also includes an "ExpertReview score" which scores the accessibility of the survey based on the questions added.
There are hundreds of pre-made survey templates to choose from or the user can start from scratch. Survey templates and custom questions can be saved in a private library or organizational library for others to use.
Other customization options include organization themes, the window the survey is open for, and sending custom thank-you emails.
As with most surveys, there is a plethora of ways to distribute the survey including anonymous link, individual link, QR code, social media, and direct email.
Users in the same organization are easily added, and options can be restricted including: edit, view, reports, activate/deactivate, copy, and distribute.
Multiple individuals can edit a survey at the same time, but changes are not seen until a page refresh, which can cause survey version issues if working on the same question.
There are two main sections of analytics in Qualtrics.
In this tab, the raw data is available in a list format, with each completed survey as a row, and the columns being the data available, which can be customized to user preference. In the premium version users can download the .CSV of the data and use outside analytical tools to analyze.
The results tab has an analytical view of all the data per question. Qualtrics automatically fits what it thinks is the best visualization for each set of data per question. The user can remove or add different visualizations to may better represent the data.
From here a custom report can be generated using the data and visualizations the user prefers. Reports can be made as many times and are saved in a 'Reports' tab.
Qualtrics is an industry leader in both their security and support.
Qualtrics boasts ISO 27001, FEDRAMP, HITRUST, and SOC Type 2 Certifications in security in addition to use Amazon Web Services (AWS) end to end encryption with all their data. These certifications include the transfer HIPAA and banking data (91 out of the top 100 banking institutions use Qualtrics).
Qualtrics also has an in-house security team to help with any security related issues.
Large amount of training material including on-demand training and certifications available. There is also an active online community to help with questions and a blog. Overall, Qualtrics is so widely used that it is likely your questions have been asked before. Additionally, there is a FAQ section on their website.
If those resources don't work or you have technical difficulties, support is available via email, online chat, or by phone.
A free version is available with limited features. Great for testing out Qualtrics features and feel.
The premium version requires talking to a sales representative for custom pricing, with no personal plans available. It is estimated to start at $1,500 per year.
Many business (Amazon, Jetblue, Spotify, +11,000) and universities (99 of the top 100 business schools) already have a license with Qualtrics.
